If it's real fishing you want ...

Polar Star Lodge

WE'VE GOT IT!

Polar Star Lodge was founded in 1958. It was founded for fishing and hunting guests who originated from the United States. Polar Star Lodge is now broadening its horizons. We are now catering or hosting activities. Although we will be expanding upon these events, fishing and hunting will remain our primary activities.

Fishing

Walleyes and Northern Pike are bountiful and world record Muskie’s roam the depths of our waters. Smallmouth Bass, Perch and Crappie are also frequently caught.

Polar Star Lodge is located midway between Wabigoon and Dinorwic lakes with access to nine more lakes without a portage. The Butler, Olson, Larson and Paulson chain of lakes offer up great fishing and are especially beautiful. The boat ride through the winding creeks that connect them is literally a wilderness tour. You are almost sure to see Bald Eagles, Loons, Ducks and a view of a Moose, Bear or Deer isn’t unlikely. Our abundant water offer lots of tranquility and the opportunity to fish totally undisturbed by any other boats.

Hunting

We have four adult moose tags in three different areas. We also have a long waiting list for these tags making them hard to obtain.

Our deer population has exploded in the surrounding area so much that we are now looking at safe ways to hold urban deer hunts. A huge buck sporting a world record rack or set of antlers adorns our museum walls for a reminder to hunters of the size of the deer found in this area. On the lower end of our hunts, a walk down an old logging road when the leaves are changing colour is always a breath taking experience while hunting partridge. If you would rather hunt waterfowl, you can find a quiet bay off the main lake where ducks frequently land. The numerous wild rice fields found in our water systems attract plenty of waterfowl.

Events

The catering of events is new to Polar Star Lodge. Being new, I’m sure it’s going to be a learning experience. It’s one thing to host these gatherings and yet another to try and organize enough activities within the main function to make it a memorable experience for everyone involved. In this respect, it becomes hard to quote a price for any main event. Each one will be based upon your requirements from us.
The more we become involved, the higher the cost. Contact us for a list of what we cater to and check off what you want us to become involved in and we will send you the cost of your event.

Wildlife Photography

Wildlife photography is not new. It’s new to Polar Star Lodge but not necessarily new to tourism. The majority of pictures found in the gallery under wildlife were taken by our resort guide who definitely has an eye for wildlife photography. His pictures would have to be considered picture perfect. This person guides people who want to take photographs of our wildlife. These animals are wild and can be dangerous in their own environment.
We definitely recommend that anyone seeking this type of adventure hires our local guide.

Covered Docks at Polar Star Lodge

Covered Docks

Polar Star Lodge hosts the largest covered dock amongst tourist resorts in Canada. It’s unique and the only one in the area like it. Built in a u-shape, it’s completely covered in and stretches 621 feet long and will house 58 boats under one roof. This covered dock gives your boat full protection from the wind and rain. If you’re bringing your own boat, our cement boat launch makes boat launching real easy. If you don’t want to bring your own boat, we have 16′ aluminum boats and up to date motors available for you. Each stall has electricity and your own drop cord is required for battery charging.
